I need to downgrade or somehow jailbreak my ps3 on 3.60.?

dudes i just want to get it so i can install package files and get the thing for installing games on the hdd that i already own before my kids snap another one in half. if u disapprove of this please keep it to yourself. i will even go as far as installing another os alongside this one if necessary. i saw this, http://www.ps3hax.net/2011/05/ps3-dual-boot-gameoslinux-cfw/#more-8291 click skip ad when it pops up i know it is annoying. will this accomplish what i need done? i need a confirmed working way to do this all the survey ones will just turn up as spam btw. sriously this has got me so po'ed though. they just totally wrecked my infamous, which i had locked up. i will downgrade as much as necessary and lose all my saves even i just need a way without picking up some crappy $200 calculator. also im hearing about installing yellow dog, is ubuntu an option? sorry bout my grammer im out the door in 5
