Quick psp cfw help plz.?

I have a psp running cfw 5.00 m33 on a psp 2001 not 4, 5, or 6 just m33. I want to update to 5.50 gen d3... Do i have to upgrade to 5.00 m33 6 then upgrade to gen c then d3? Can someone please just give me a list of steps what to update first in order and what to do next and so on.
